Established in 1883, Benjamin Moore is one of the USA’s best-loved high-end paint brands and, fortunately for us, is distributed in the UK by the equally wonderful Shaw Paints. It’s Aura Bath & Spa range is specifically designed for the bathroom, as the name suggests, and it is a seriously high performing paint in bathroom conditions. It also comes in some beautiful colours – and our favourite is the subtly sumptuous Mascarpone. Creamy, yet a world away from Magnolia; light and airy yet definitely not plain old white; and with just the subtlest hint of turquoise, it is the perfect finishing touch to a neoclassical-inspired bathroom.
Easycare Bathroom Soft Sheen by Dulux
Don’t write off Dulux just because it’s so seemingly ubiquitous and everyday. You don’t become the UK’s number one paint brand by producing substandard products. In fact, the Dulux Easycare Bathroom range is full of wonderful shades that will utterly transform your luxury bathroom project. Our favourite has to be the gorgeous Willow Tree with its near-pastel-turquoise tone recalling the cosy morning dew of an early English spring. It’s fresh, it’s fun and it’s even got a rather noble quality to it, made as it is by the ever-tasteful Graham & Brown. Luxury doesn’t have to be sterile. And, if high-end country cottage or late Victorian townhouse is your style, Pavilion Blue by Farrow & Ball is possibly the most traditionally bathroomy of all the colours in our best-of list. It’s barely blue, when all said and done, and there’s a strong hint of light green in there that takes you back to the styling of the late Victorian and early Georgian pavilions referenced in the name.
