Oh, Cassiopeia! Just what is it about this particular double Corian washbasin?

So, what is it about this classic of our Corian collection that makes couples suddenly decide, ‘we need to wash together’?

Oh, Cassiopeia! Just what is it about this particular double Corian® washbasin?

Of all the double washbasins we sell, here at Riluxa, none is more popular than the Cassiopeia by Riluxa. A minimalist wall-mounted piece with rectangular, sloping, ´Jack and Jill’ sinks (or ‘Jack and Jack’ or ‘Jill and Jill’, if you don’t want to be parochial about it) and sleek hard edges, it is made of 100% DuPont™ Corian® and has been our top-selling double basin for a number of years now. So, what is it about this classic of our Corian® collection that makes couples suddenly decide, ‘we need to wash together’?

Custom made DuPont Corian®

Well, for a start, it’s custom-made like 97% of our Corian® products. What does that mean in real terms? Well, it means the width and depth can be adjusted to the last millimetre anywhere within a wide given range. If you have a large, square bathroom, you might want to max-out your options. If you have a long, narrow bathroom, you might want a double basin that fills the wall space but doesn’t require you to squeeze past. And so on.

It also means you can decide whether or not you have a tap hole in it. Some people like the taps to be mounted on the basin, others prefer to wash using wall mounted taps. So we give you the choice. You can even decide whether you want it to have towel rails cut into the Corian® – one, two or three – and where they’ll sit on the washbasin. If at all!

Corian® Cosmos Prima - just one of the new Corian® colour collection

Corian® Colours

Perhaps the most exciting customisation possibility is the one that allows you to choose whatever colour you like for your double sink set-up. And the range of Corian® colours on the market, right now, is quite amazing and far broader than you would get with a ceramic or porcelain washbasin.

There are colours and textures drawn from nature, some of which look like wood, some of which look like marble or even the stars in the night sky. And then you’ve got a whole set of bold primary colours and subtle pastel tones you can choose for your basin, too. Whatever the style of your bathroom, Corian® is the perfect material to complement it, just because it’s so aesthetically versatile.

The minimalist simplicity of the design

The clear winning factor with the Cassiopeia, though, is that it’s just such a beautiful piece of furniture that people can’t help wanting it in their bathrooms. “Where’s the plug hole?” is usually the first question we’re asked, by discerning pragmatists. Well, if you want a sink that holds water, the Cassiopeia isn’t for you. It’s designed for running water so the plug hole is beneath the unit and out of sight, so there’s no plug. The washbasin’s sloping sink is actually there to aid faster drainage, as well as to look cool, so just bear that in mind. This is a basin for people who like to wash and go (and, yes, to look cool because doesn’t it just?)

It’s cute to wash together. Or is it just practical?

Finally, of course, there’s the fact that it’s a double basin. Whether you’re doing it because you’re all romantic and you just can’t be apart for a second, even while you do your daily ablutions, or because it’s just more practical when you’ve got busy lives and need to either occupy the same bathroom at the same time or be late for work, the Cassiopeia gives you the chance to wash together in style. Practical, romantic and sophisticated, all in one. What more could you want? Well, if the enduring popularity of the Cassiopeia is anything to go by, not much. People love it.
