Designing a Beautiful Ensuite Bathroom

Designing the perfect ensuite bathroom is an exciting prospect for everyone fortunate enough to have sufficient space in their home. Not only will it create a private haven to unwind far from the bustle of the family space, it’s also a practical luxury that adds value to your home.

The Riluxa clients featured today, Émilie et Cédric, were lucky to have ample space to work with, and carefully planned their design to make the most of the generous proportions. Creating a feature wall is an ideal way to give a focal point to a large bathroom. Here, extending the floor tiles to the feature wall draws the eye by creating a contrast in both colour and texture. This serves as the perfect backdrop to a crisp white double washbasin and shelf in Corian® from Riluxa, leaving ample room for a luxurious bath.

We chatted to Émilie who shared her insights into the process of creating her beautiful ensuite bathroom. 

First of all, tell us a little bit about yourself - are you a homeowner or a design professional and where do you live? 

I’m Émilie , I’m a homeowner and we live on the banks of the River Saône to the north of Lyon, in France.

Tell us about your bathroom project - was it a renovation or did you start from scratch? How long did it take and did everything go as planned, or were there any unpleasant surprises along the way?   

We started with a completely empty space of 20 square metres, which is connected to our bedroom. Our project involved the installation of a shower, a bathtub, a double washbasin and a storage shelf in Corian and the work lasted two months in total. The selection of materials was paramount from the beginning – it was important to us to choose original, high-quality materials.

Tell us the story of your relationship with Riluxa - how you found us and how has your experience been?

We found Riluxa while researching high-end Corian products online. Although the entire decision-making and ordering process took place remotely, we benefited greatly from the technical expertise and personalised advice that Raphaël was able to give us.

What Riluxa pieces have you used in your project? 

A Cassiopeia Plus washbasin in Corian and a matching storage shelf of the same height, also made of Corian. 

What attracted you to these specific pieces? 

We particularly like the clean and minimalist look offered by these pieces, their high quality and the fact that it’s incredibly easy to clean and maintain Corian.  

What design style were you going for - and what influenced the choice? 

We wanted a clean and contemporary atmosphere, and to create a space dedicated to everyday wellbeing that would play with shadows and light. In terms of the colour, we were inspired by the purest iceberg white – so Corian’s Glacier White colour was perfect for us! 

Tell us what you think of your project now that it's finished. 

You can really feel the quality of the finished result! We would describe our completed bathroom as clean, contemporary and beautiful.
